The Tanzania Trade Development Authority has called on Tanzanian businesses and investors to work more closely through business associations and chambers of commerce to develop the "Made in Tanzania" brand for international markets.
TANTRADE Director General Ephraim Mafuru made the call at the 10th International Agricultural Exhibition in Africa, held alongside the 3rd Africa Agriculture, Livestock and Poultry Exhibition, Daily News reported. The exhibitions opened on September 2, 2026, and were scheduled to conclude on September 3, bringing together companies from Tanzania and other countries across the business value chain.
Mafuru said the events were designed to help businesses meet buyers, exchange experience and learn how to access larger international markets. The agency's focus is on value addition, product competitiveness and brand recognition under the "Made in Tanzania" identity.
"Our goal is to ensure that businesses use the opportunities provided by these exhibitions to meet buyers and learn how to access major markets around the world," Mafuru said.
He added that TANTRADE expects the exhibitions to result in trade and investment agreements that help businesses increase production, expand markets and contribute to economic growth.
The message is relevant beyond agriculture because Tanzania's export challenge is also a manufacturing and branding challenge. Raw production capacity does not automatically translate into higher-value trade unless firms can meet buyer requirements, package products consistently and build commercial channels into target markets.
For investors, the agency's emphasis points to opportunities in processing, certification, packaging, logistics and market development around Tanzanian agricultural and livestock products. The article did not disclose signed agreements from the exhibitions, so the immediate news is the policy and commercial direction rather than completed deals.
